Knowledge & Wisdom

Lately I’ve been delving into learning a bit more about colour theory.

It’s been helpful and eye opening to know why certain colours just work well together.

At the same time, It’s been in experimentation where I really get a sense of what I like. When mixing and testing colours, I’m putting them side by side and noticing my response to it. Often it’s very visceral.

I’m finding that creating art is a series of decisions that come from both knowledge and wisdom.

Knowledge- learned / borrowed information. It gives me the technical understanding of how to bring harmony into a work.

Wisdom- experienced / leans on a deeper knowing. It comes from time and mistakes.

Allowing that aspect of creating is really important to me, especially as a recovering perfectionist.

As I marry the two together, I’m giving permission for whatever is in me to flow, however imperfect and raw it might be. And through that process I gain wisdom and begin to find what really sets my heart on fire.

Love to hear your thoughts and experience on this too.

Peace & Love,

Elissa
