Grace in between

How else do we learn- but through trial and error, repetition, experiments, accidents and best of all, play?

Hello friends,

Just a friendly reminder (mostly to myself!) that something can be fun and difficult at the same time.

While I’m LOVING my #100daysofgrace2021 challenge, it lives up to it’s name both as a challenge and my call to grace.

The gap between where you are, and where you want to be can be glaringly obvious once you start to learn principles of colour, composition, value etc in more depth. In those moments I must give myself grace and be ok with mistakes, things ‘not quite working’.

How else do we learn but through trial and error, repetition, experiments, accidents and best of all, play?

I remember when I started my business around this time last year. No clue at all about what was involved. Even more scarier that it involved numbers- it’s definitely not my strength! Was it painful to set up? At times, yes- very! I almost gave up a few times because I wondered whether it was worth it.

But am I glad that I did it? Absolutely. I learnt so much in the process and so many unexpected surprises and connections with beautiful people have come from my decision to try something new.

Learning new things will be difficult to some degree, so I embrace the character formation that happens when I confront the feelings of frustration, impatience and perfectionism. Do I give up, or do I sit with the uncomfortable feelings, acknowledge them and work through them?

Whatever you want to improve on or learn… give yourself grace. Things that are worth it, take time. Plus, you’ll have a story to tell of your adventures.

So my friend, keep going, you can do it. x

Peace & Love,

Elissa
