Be your own cheerleader

I have my single launch for ‘Glass Ceiling’ coming up on the 21st of January.

I’ll be singing some jazz, pop and neo soul tunes + originals with my band at Open Studio Bar in Northcote. So excited to do this!

But I also want to take a moment to encourage you in your journey.

I have always wanted to do my own solo show, but actually struggled to believe that I was worthy of doing one, or that I had a good enough voice to even put out there.

All those negative thoughts pushed down the purity of that dream I had.

You might want to do a solo gig too, or even just perform to small group of friends. Or maybe you feel like you want to write a song? An album?

Whatever your singing dream looks like, I want to encourage you that it starts with taking loving responsibility for your gift and knowing you are worthy of those dreams.

Will you feel discouraged, deflated and unmotivated at times? Yes.

I’ve felt all of these and will continue to feel them no matter how far I’ve come. There will always be light and shade in the journey. That’s what makes it interesting- it all contributes to the story you tell.

So here’s my question for you.

Are you your own cheerleader?

We all need people around us who can be encouraging and believe in us. Having those people around me has been a real key to my growth.

But even best friends & family can’t change our mind unless we first give permission to believe in ourselves too.

You need to become your own cheerleader and have faith that the prompts in your heart to do something are for a purpose.

Purpose doesn’t necessarily = fame. I think purpose is connected with fulfilment, alignment, generosity and legacy. These are all good things that are planted in you right now!

I hope you can be your own cheerleader in 2023.

Great things come from it.

My upcoming show means so much to me because it’s the product of some really deep soul searching and inner growth that has been behind the scenes for quite a few years now. I’d love to see you there.

You can also sign up to my Vocal Coaching newsletter to receive more encouragements like this.

Peace & Love,

Elissa
